First Outings

Eliana had her first official outing (besides her two week doctor appt) this past Saturday at 3 weeks, 1 day old. Ellie joined Dad and Mom at Target where they got some breastfeeding and baby supplies. Ellie slept the whole time.

Eliana's busy weekend continued as she attended church for the first time. Mom and Dad were excited to take her to church, but opted for the church in Humble instead of their regular church in Houston since it is closer. It was nice, but Mom and Dad are looking forward to introducing Ellie to St. Anne's. Ellie continued her busy day by making her first trip to Grandma's house. Eliana's great-grandmother passed away on Valentine's Day,  so much of Mom's extended family was in town for her funeral this past Monday. Ellie was excited to meet and greet great uncles and aunts, and second cousins. Eliana did not get the chance to meet her great-grandmother, but Gammy was aware of Ellie's  birth, and did get to see pictures and a video of her right after she was born. We will all miss Gammy dearly.

pictures of ellie

Eliana practicing being in her crib. She still doesn't like to be set down for very long, but she is getting a little better everyday...
Eliana checking out her activity playmat. She doesn't appreciate the toys and all the things to look at and play with quite yet, but she did seem to turn attention to the part of the playmat that lights up and makes noise. She probably stayed here about 10 minutes; mom was proud of her.
Eliana practicing in her crib again. She seemed to like the ocean soother that lights up, and makes ocean sounds.
Checking out the crib for a bit in her Pretty in Pink outfit from Blakely. This outfit was way too big when we first tried it on, and is fitting just right now at 3 weeks old. Mom and Dad are proud how much she has grown!
Eliana taking a snooze on Nana while Mom grabbed a shower. Nana also brought Mom and Dad over some delicious soup, homemade bread, and some pork chops for dinner. That was sure nice of her!
Eliana playing around on the quilt Grandma LeBlanc made her. How lucky Ellie is to have such a beautiful quilt that was made from Grandma's loving hands.
Stretching out on the quilt showing off how big she is getting:) Below Ellie is taking a snooze on Dad. Mom thought she looked really cute with her legs and arms spread out wide. Looks like she is pretty happy on Dad's lap:)

walking and rolling

Mommy and Grandma took Eliana for a walk in some warm weather; about 83 degrees or so. The walk was nice, but then Ellie got fussy; maybe a little hot, and Mommy had to carry her all the way home. Next time we will wear something cooler!

First doctors appointment

At her two week appointment the doc was happy to see that she had gained 1 pound and grown 2" since birth.

Grandparent Dinner at the House!

All of Ellie's Grandparents gathered for a dinner at the house (Dad taking the pic)
Sitting around chatting... Carl is asking his good buddy Google a question.

LeBlanc Grandparents Visit!

Grandma LeBlanc's first time holding Eliana.
Eating Chipotle (Linda went and picked this up for everybody, which was very nice), talking and baby watching when Mom and Dad first got to Houston. They picked a cold time to come (28degrees).
Gramps holds Eliana for the first time.
Grandma holds Eliana Thursday morning while Wendy takes a nap.

Cruisin the neighborhood

Wendy and Carl took Eliana for a walk around the neighborhood this week. It was her first walk. It's been cold weather here (20's last week, 20's today) and they took advantage of some warm weather to show her around.

Adventures in Baby!

The top picture here is Ellie watching the superbowl. She thought the game was pretty good but didn't like the commercials; she was disappointed that there weren't any ads about breastfeeding; thats all she really cares about these days... kids will be kids. She didn't even giggle at the Darth Vador ad. Anyway, the picture below is her in 'frog mode'. She likes to curl into a tiny little ball and pretend she's a frog (either that or it reminds her of being in the womb... I'm a first time father so I'm not great at reading kids yet). After the game I awoke at 130 in the morning to Wendy exclaiming 'oh no!' and heard a loud noise. Thinking something was terribly wrong I jumped up out of bed as my heart skipped a beat and dove over to where wendy was standing holding Ellie, assuming she was about to fall or something. Luckily everybody was okay. It turns out Wendy was walking across the room to get another diaper (holding naked Ellie). About halfway to the diaper supply, Ellie decided to take a big poo (which landed both on Wendy and the carpet). It was a new experience for all!

My first day back to work was today (Monday). It was a lot of fun to come home and say hi to Eliana!

Sneeze you!

Ellie is starting to get used to being by herself in her crib. This is her hanging out and then having some sneezes.

Ellie had some visitors last night, Carl, Sue, Abby, Norvia, Cristin, Mike, and Lars all came over for dinner (come over for dinner happily translates to, they came over to the house and cooked dinner here which was very very nice).

Cristin and Mike just left for the airport, it was great seeing both of them over the last couple days. Lisa also stopped by this morning and got to meet Ellie.

Ellie had a streaky night last night. From 10 to 330am she was pretty grumpy and wanted to eat every 60-90 minutes. Then from 4am to 730am she slept great and let Wendy get some much needed Zzzz's.

Home on the couch!

Cristin took this picture while visiting this weekend.

First week at home

Ellie wearing one of Lexi and Lily's old outfits
What did you say? I'm supposed to support her head?
Eliana just got done eating breakfast!

Ellie's second morning at home (this is a video of her being held by Grandma Linda)

Ellie has been doing great at home! She hasn't been crying too much and is eating really well.

We were greeted at home when we got back from the hospital by Linda, Carl and Sue. They had decorated the house with flowers, balloons and made lots of good food (pasta fagioli, cheese cake, homemade bread). It was a very nice homecoming with Ellie. Since then Linda and John have each made a meal; Linda made a delicious chicken dinner (with squash and mashed taters) and John made some delicious popcorn (although he ate it all, but he said it was good).
